Harry sat down on a bench as she thought about what the councillor told her. She was relieved to be told she was probably not going crazy. However seeing these.. artefacts on reality was quite scary. She tried not to look at people, in case she saw... things again around them. Things that were not really there. Hallucinations... maybe it was because the headache her period induced. She was certain it could not be coincidence that they happened at the same time.
Someone then sat next to her... she was dressed in the old style leathers. "A pleasure to meet your acquaintance, Lady."
Harry frowned a little at being called lady, but the girl seemed to be trying to be polite. Besides... she looked like one. "Hello," she said glancing at her but not looking directly."
"My name is Brittany... are you well?"
Harry didn't really want to talk about it to a stranger.
Brittany just gave a little smile and sat, looking around. "They walk so quickly now, don't they..."
"H-huh?" Harry glanced at her.
"The students of our school. Do you think we are afraid of each other, I wonder?"
Harry shrugged. "Doesn't seem that different to me." The more things changed the more they stayed the same. She still got picked on, she was still behind on her studies... but at least she now had music to consider.
"May I know your name my lady?" Brittany enquired carefully.
Oh- she didn't give it. "It's- um..." Harry didn't know right now what to call herself. She wasn't sure she wanted another person knowing about her former self either, but last time it got her into so much trouble with Ken.
Brittany just gave a little smile. "We are alike, I think."
Does she know? Harry bit her lip. "I- um-" she stopped... what could she say?
"I know things... things I couldn't really know." Brittany said. "Just as you see things, you couldn't possibly see" she spoke with a strange tone, mixed with her accent.
Harry looked with her three eyes at her. "You know about- this?"
Brittany nodded. "I believe... part of your difficulty, is that you consider yourself simply a human... with an extra eye. I am sorry but I think you should know, this is not the case. You are as different as..." She gestured to the walking students. "As different as them."
"What about you? You look human," Harry said.
Brittany sighed looking sadly. "Gaze... if you like... and see."
Harry looked not sure what to make of what she was saying. It's not as if...
Harry jumped back startled. "Y-Your a ghost!" She could see right through Brittany...
Brittany gave a sad smile. "I hope... you will not tell anyone..." She looked very down now.
Harry was in total shock. "H-how? How come you're... But other people can see you!"
Brittany glanced around. "I have corporal presence... but only in the school and among the changed. I can not leave here... I have no home to go to, no place I exist other then here. I found that to people, it is as if I have always been here though..."
This was too disturbing for Harry. She had to ask it in the end. "Are... you dead?"
Brittany shook her head. "I can not recall my life before the sun came to me... was I a ghost before that was changed upon the day of change? Unlikely... which means, I must have once been as human as the others. A ghost is as much part of the supernatural as any other beings here... including yourself. However.. I do not know why nobody has come looking for me..."
Brittany seemed to have given this a lot of thought, Harry realised.
"The place I exist in now, grants me special knowledge I couldn't know... but all power has its price. Mine is, that I must remain here... until such times, I understand my existence better. I can only be seen by the changed... I can make them think I have substance, where there is none... and only you, has seen the truth of my nature."
Harry wasn't sure why, but she gave Brittany a hug. It seemed like they both needed it... Without the illusion of substance though, Harry found it difficult to touch Brittany. However her senses perceived 'something'... she hoped it was enough.
Brittany accepted the hug graciously. "Thank you..."
"My name... is Harry," she said. "Sometimes... people call me Haru." She explained. "It's a long story."
"Lady Haru, I hope you do not mind if I call you such... guard my secret, if you would. I will guard yours."
Effie smoothed her dress, as she looked over Mikey's instructions.
Dennis however was day dreaming a bit as he looked at the other digital fairy. He really thought she was pretty... and cute. Her blue dress really suited her, even the unusual accessories of that error mark around her. Dennis didn't know much about digital fairies but Effie seemed a little more unusual then most. At times she would walk with incredible grace, then at other times stumble on the simplest tasks. They were all getting used to their new bodies, but the dichotomy of Effie was interesting. The other fairy, Amy said that she suspected Effie would be of great help one day... Dennis suspected she was right. There were aspects to Effie that gave her high potential... if she could reach it.
"So I think we should try basic hacks like default passwords first and- arn't you listening to me?"
Dennis blushed as he was caught in the act. "Er- sorry I was just thinking something."
Effie groaned. "Our host needs our attention at the moment. You wanted to interact with the world? This is about as close as we're going to get it for now I think."
Dennis wondered a lot about that actually. "You know? Have you ever thought about... um... literally being hosted by Mikey? Maybe you could share her body now and then?"
Effie paled just slightly. Such was a topic she saw on the internet by other hackers... digital fairies desperate enough to try and steal a robot body just like Mikey. She vowed she would never let that happen... any fairy that would try it, would have her to deal with. Though Mikey's firewalls were more then capable of dealing with such intruders.
"There are... rules about that, Dennis," She said in the end. Not that there was any actual laws yet. "I wouldn't feel comfortable... even if it were possible. Mikey is our Host... we have to help her with her life. Not take it over."
Effie wondered if she was that selfless before her change... but such an instinct came naturally to her. She thought of Mikey like family... a little sister... ?
Dennis grinned. "You would make a wonderful mom I think"
Effie looked wide eyed staring. Was she mothering Mikey? Oh hell she was... "I- um- I just want to protect our host. That's all..."
she tried to avoid Dennis' look...
