The two hallways were built and we were now waiting for the Augury Room to finish. Next would be the Energy Lab and then the reactors. After that, the elevator down to the second sublevel. Being patient was a really hard thing to do. Ryder looked at me when I entered the lounge. "Brianne. I was wondering if you and Claire would assist me in a task." I asked what it was. It was a Interception mission. We had to infiltrate the Dwan police station in the center of town and try to capture terminals in order to allow for the cyborgs to be able to keep tabs on the police officers. The Hacking would be handled by Claire and Ryder. I was just there to be back up if they got caught and needed some firepower. I took the over buffed rifle with me and I drove one of the taxis down there with them. The police station was always open to the public so it was easy to get inside. The challenge was getting past all of the cameras. There was an external terminal at the back of the building. There were also 3 more inside the station. We did not need all of them, we just needed to get in long enough to intercept messages.
Once the Interception counter reached 100% we were good to go. Of course, more terminals meant the bar rose faster. The police would respond once the first one was breached and would try to retake the terminal. That gave us the chance to give them the run around as we went after more targets. It also meant that they would be trying to capture and kill us. I had no doubt that we could take them on. The cyborgs were supposed to be able to take out whole platoons of regular foot soldiers. I was also well equipped for this. Claire slipped in to the back while we were in the lobby. 10 minutes passed before the counter began to rise. An alarm rose and several large unarmed officers rushed out past us. That was our cue to go to the next position. Ryder got to the terminal and connected to it. He closed his eyes and began hacking. It took him 10 minutes as well. When he was done, there was a quick sprint up to the second floor for the third position. Claire was to get to the basement when she was done with the officers for the final point. "I can get this one fine." he said. 4 officers came in.
My riffle then began blasting. I killed them easily and waited for more to come. When they did not, I was a bit disappointed. We made a detour for the armory and broke in. It was fine since this was just the early game with low experience cyborgs. There were several Glocks and magazines for them. I got a bag and stuffed them inside. A cyborg with a gun was certainly dangerous. We could use these while we waited for the research. Ryder and I then casually made our way to the car. We put the guns in the trunk and got in the car. Claire was waiting for us. We then drove back. They told me they got a some credits added to their account and some resources were made available to them. I let them go get it and bring it back to the Clan building. The local news was all about the vicious attack we pulled off at the police station. Apparently, the only ones that died were the ones I shot. There were no description being released at the time. I told them Claire and Ryder that they would be taking the next 2 days off and laying low when they got back home. They nodded and went about their lounging.
Being two drivers short, I had to take one of the taxis for the business. I liked taking the people where they needed to go. I even was able to take cyborgs sometimes. He had business at the library. It was probably to get all the rewards of his latest task. It surprised me when I heard that the basement of the library was where the cyborgs arranged affairs and got their rewards. I wondered what he had gotten. I liked driving, but someone had to run the dispatcher booth. I took that position again when they were able to take jobs again. There was no more mention of the attack on the news. There were even more police officers to replace the ones that were lost. It seemed that you could lay low for a bit to lessen the notoriety you had. Pau and Bret also went on missions with the cyborgs. Brett's mission was an assassination on one of the head Reprogrammers in town. Paul helped Red and Alex with rescuing a cyborg that got caught by scrappers outside the town limits as they were traveling to the city. A minute later and he would have died. Once the Energy Lab was done, we went down to see.
