"Can the stone create people out of thin air?" Karyn asked. "Or do those people have to come from somewhere? If they do, then the people you remember are still here somewhere. If not, they don't exist."
"How do I find out which ...?" Jon trailed off, as he saw something that answered that question for him. "Zoe," he said.
"Zoe?" Karyn turned and saw a girl she knew was named Zoe.
"It's my sister, from before."
"I thought you said she was a Goth," Karyn said.
Jon stared at his former sister. Before Zoe dyed her hair black, she was a natural brunette (he just remembered that). But this Zoe had blond hair ... and larger breast size, not to mention perfectly tanned skin and an overall killer body. And her clothes were definitely not gothic. A pink halter top, a short denim miniskirt, and brown three-inch heels. But it was definitely Zoe. Her face was the same.
"So, Sarah's little sister used to be your little sister?" Karyn asked.
"Sarah?"
"Yeah, Sarah McMillan. Zoe is Sarah's sister."
Zoe McMillan? Jon thought. Certainly, being like this was better than being a Goth, but he hated the fact that Zoe was now related to that cheerleader bitch.
"Is there a problem?" Zoe suddenly asked, breaking Jon out of his thoughts ... and his stare. Her voice was filled with contempt - the same contempt he usually heard from Sarah. Apparently, some of Sarah's bitchiness rubbed off onto her younger sister.
"Uh ..." Jon wasn't sure what to say.
