He wasn't sure which one was real. He went back downstairs and pretended nothing was bothering him, and had breakfast. He needed to talk to Karyn.
He met her at the usual place, content she looked the same. "Hey, Jon-boy," she said. "What's wrong?" She knew him well enough to know when something was bothering him.
"It's my sister," he said.
"Is she butting in your life again? I told you that you should cut her some slack. I know what its like to be a big sister, you know. You look out for your younger brother, even if he doesn't want it."
"But...Karyn, you're an only child," Jon said, confused.
Karyn stared at him. "Jon, what did you wish for?" She asked, her first thoughts going to the stone. "Did you wish up my little brother?"
"I don't know," Jon said. "But...Sam...my sister. I remember her, but I remember a different sister too. I made this wish...accidentally, that something interesting would happen. And when I woke up...and there was this stranger in the kitchen, except she isn't."
Karyn saw how much it was freaking him out, for things to feel normal but know they weren't. Knowing something about her own life might not be real wasn't comforting either. She held his arm. "This other sister of yours, what's her name?"
Jon frowned. "I...can't remember," he said. "I can't remember what she looks like. She's a Goth...and a pain in the butt..." There was a blank space in his mind where her face was supposed to be. As if she was getting less real by the second.
