Getting together and readying our weapons, we waited for the source of the noise. When the bushes were moved aside, 4 teenagers came over. They looked relaxed in modern clothes. I could see that they were armed with a set of handguns holstered on their hips. I got in front of Brom and Shayne. They had no clue what they were dealing with. Brett did the same. They were confused, but did not make any fuss while we stared each other down. I was thankful for that. The four modern clothed teens looked at us. "Who are you and what are you doing in this forest?" one of the guys said. Looking closer, they were all wearing the same uniform: maroon pants with a white shit and a dark purple jacket. "My name is Brianne Terri. We are here to settle here and build a town where we can worship freely. Where is this place?" Another of the guys said "We weren't talking to you monsters! We are talking to the humans." The other two tried to calm him down, but it was not working. They then introduced themselves. Their names were Alex, Lincoln, Koby, and Carter. Carter was the big hothead.
It was not looking to be a good start. Shayne and Brom introduced themselves. That seemed to lessen the tension with the four. We learned the four were part of a task force that defended humanity from constant attacks from monsters and aliens. The agency was named MPAX, or the Metropolitan Police Anti Xenomorph Task Force. At that moment, I realized that there was a huge difference in setting. I was not too confident the knights and clerics would be able to keep up. This would certainly be a big challenge for our group. Hopefully, there would be some things that our magic would be able to give us an advantage. I asked them if we could exchange some map information. The four looked at me with an extreme distrust. They obviously felt the same way about Omnikid, Paul and Brett as well. When I tried to approach, they all reached for their guns. I raised my hands immediately. The exchange made Brom and Shayne blink in confusion. "What the hell is that?" Shayne asked. "Looks like it's some kind of weapon." Brom said as he craned his neck to get a look at it. Shayne did it too.
I tried to keep them behind me, but they got in front anyway. They were simply too curious for their own good. I just sighed at them. "Why are you two traveling with these xenomorphs?" Alex asked as he pointed to me and the others. "What are these 'xenomorphs' you keep talking about!?" Brom asked. Koby was practically bubbly as he said "You guys don't know!? Huh, that's super weird! Everyone should know about them. I can tell you about it though." He then told us about the world where portals to alien worlds opened in the cities and people needed to attack them and force them back. Koby then undid the buttons on his jacket and lifted his shirt. Where his belly button should have been, was a large white disc with a red glowing center grated to the skin of his defined six pack. Brett looked at him appreciatively. "This right here is my UNS generator. It stands for Umbilical Nanomite Suit generator. We use them to fight the xenomorphs that come through." Kody showed. He obviously was not going to show us how. "That looks like witchcraft to me." Shayne said with a shrug. We all blinked.
A tense moment passed before Lincoln said "Let us reach your camp and see what else you have. I know that you guys might need some help with... resettling." I spoke up and said "Where would you take us. Some of us there are not human." Carter said "Well, we'll just kick all the xenomorphs out and then question and process all the others." Shayne just glared at him. "Hey. My wife is a 'taur! I'm not letting you touch a hair on her." he said. Carter's nose flared with rage. "You think that we won't, huh? I guess that answers what the readings we saw at the base were." "Carter. Just calm down." Alex tried to placate him. Carter was not hearing it. "You know what? Fine! I'll just start with you monsters." he growled as he took off his jacket. The others of his squad tried to stop him as he reached for his pants. "We do not know what they are capable of. It's not smart right now." Koby pleaded. Lincoln just shrugged and said "Just let him go. It's not like we want to protect the xenomorphs." The rest of them just let Carter go. We just got ready. "I wanna see where this goes. Let me fight him." Brett said.
