Jon felt cold...

The sun was starting to rise.

He couldn't understand why he was naked, the skin of his human parts suffered every bit as much to the elements as before- if not more so now. Her curled his wings over himself, which gave some shelter but it wasn't much. The feathers tickled the breasts feeling... rather nice- though he wasn't going to admit it.

He was also starting to get hungry, but could not find it in himself to eat the meats that were presented to him. He was not an animal, he was human! He needed cooked food... but he couldn't even figure out a way to make a fire. He looked at the twigs that made up the nest... it looked dry, but his talons did not have the dexterity needed to make it into fire.

Staying here was death... if he didn't move away, he would die. The drop below was so deep, he could even see mist and fog, impossible to see the bottom. He looked up, and it looked like he could see the edge of the cliff above him.

If down was not an option, was up better?

He experimented with his wings again, trying to see how much he could grasp at things... he couldn't grasp at all. He looked at his talons, and tried to dig them into the rock face. The claws were surprisingly strong, but he couldn't see any way to get up using just the claws. The only things he had were the talons, and his mouth.

He was essentially trapped... no way up, no way down, no food, water, in a body designed for the greatest freedom of all... the freedom of flight. An ability he had no knowledge on how to use.

No! There has to be a way out of this! Something other then simply jumping off... If she had rope.. no, there was no rope.. no way to make a rope... She decided to get back to the nest, to see if there was anything missed. She silently prayed it wouldn't be eggs... that would freak her out.

Once again the narrow branch was her obstacle... she crawled onto it.. inch by inch... her heaving body pressed tightly to it- when suddenly she lost her grip. Frantically she used her wings to grab hold, but it slipped by the feathers.

Jon the Harpy, fell.
