She was tied to a table, the sound of a heart monitor beeping, and a mask was put over her face. There was a sweet, somewhat odd smell to the air inside it, and then everything went blank.
When she woke up, they were carrying her back to the pen, where they left her.
Her parents and Jon gathered around her. "What happened?"
"I don't remember," she said, smiling. She felt really good though.
"They must have drugged her," Richard said.
"I figured," Jon said. She had been back in the pen for nearly a minute and hadn't insulted him. "What did they do to her?"
"I'm not a scientist," Richard said. "But when you hang around them long enough, you pick up a few things." He wasn't a scientist, but he wasn't stupid either. He was a successful businessman, which required some brains. "She has needle marks in a bunch of places, and those round spots are where they attached sensors. That doesn't tell us anything useful though."
"I'm hungry," Sarah said.
Stuck in a pen with a naked McMillan family including a Sarah drugged out of her mind. That was way past interesting.
