Terry was surprised as his body finished morphing. The mirror stretched and flexed so he could see his whole body. It was strange. It felt like Terry had always had the body. Taking a few steps was exciting as it was as if all four legs knew how to walk even if he was unsure. He would not have chosen something like this normally, but he did not hate it. Being Female was something he had always thought about. He saw how the girls got special treatment. It was way better than how he was treated in games. Usually, he just inserted himself into the game. He wanted to be a hero, but was usually just ignored or taken advantage of. He looked around and saw a door off to the side. Terry walked to it and put his hand on the knob. A popup appeared in front of him saying "You are leaving the character creation room. You will not be allowed to return. Are you sure you wish to leave?". He knew that lots of time had already passed. Terry wanted to hurry up and start the game. He turned the knob and opened the door. It was a bright white light he could not see through. It was a crazy blank void.
He just guessed that he was supposed to walk through it to get to the game. Terry did so and continued on for what felt like 10 long seconds. His eyes blinked and he was suddenly in front of a large walled city. He was in a small line with three guards looking over a couple's cart. They were both Lizard people and they did not look very comfortable. Eventually, the guards let them go and turned to the next person in line. The next three were all humans who were allowed in with a quick glance at their papers. The one in front of me was a elf warrior. He had a very lithe body and a big wooden longbow. The two guards scoffed as they interrogated him. Terry was not stupid, but it caught him off guard to see what was happening so up close. 'This world even has racism!?' he wondered to himself. Terry waited for 5 minutes until it was his turn. "Come on, Blue!" one of them called with a smirk. The others laughed and one said "We do not have all day". He approached cautiously and stopped in front of them. "State your purpose" the guard on the right said. Terry told them that he wanted to get a job.
It was the truth. You needed to be in a settlement to get jobs or to buy and sell items. They just rolled their eyes. "What are you planning to do with those weapons you're carrying there?" the one on the left asked. The question didn't phase him. He said "I'm a soldier. I want to form a party and level up, I guess?" They narrowed their eyes in suspicion. "You guess?" one repeated angrily. He crossed his arms nervously. "Yes, please?" Terry said as he looked down at the dirt. "So? Do you have your papers or not!?" the left guard demanded. His eyes widened slightly. Terry didn't have it. A popup appeared to talk about the inventory. He opened it up, and confirmed he did not have it. "I didn't know I needed one. I'm sorry." he said before slowly backing away. An annoyed sigh came from the left guard and he made a shooing motion. The right guard, however got a sharp glint in his eye. "Well, well, well. I think I need to interrogate this one further. It might have been an honest mistake. Or... it could be that we have a spy on our hands here." he said to his two exasperated colleagues. Something was up.
