"So, people are doing the opposite of what they normally do..." Jon pondered.
"My father has been sitting around most of the night, reading," she said. "Maybe you could come over and see...But...if he starts acting normally again, he wouldn't permit it."
Jon looked at the clock and sighed. "I'm sorry Yukio but it's too late tonight. I could come over after school tomorrow though if that's ok?"
"Um, yes. That would be good. I'll keep an eye out until then. Goodbye Jon."
"Bye Yukio." Jon replied as he hung up. He then dialed Karyn.
"Hey Jon-boy. What's up?" Karyn asked as she answered.
"You haven't noticed anything strange going on have you?" Jon asked her.
There was a pause. "Nope, why?"
"My family's been acting weird today. My sister stole my clothes and then my mom and dad acted as if they were ok with that."
"Hmm, maybe your sister just fancied dropping that goth look." Karyn suggested. "And it sounds like your parents are happy with that. I thought that you would be as well."
"I am." Jon replied. "But don't you think that it's a bit odd?"
"I guess." Karyn replied.
"And then I spoke to Yukio earlier." Jon told Karyn. "She said that her father had been acting odd. Deferring to her mom when it came to making decisions."
"Well you can't expect a guy to be making all the decisions can you?" Karyn asked.
"I suppose not." Jon replied.
"Look Jon. You've got to stop acting like there's a conspiracy or something. People change and there's not a lot that you can do about it."
"I suppose you're right Karyn. It just seems to be happening all of a sudden."
