The siblings stared at one another, eyes wide, Jon in shock, Zoe in bemused delight.
"YES!" Zoe cheered, and looked down at herself expectantly, but as time ticked by, nothing much seemed to change. Her brow furrowed, and she wasn't the only one confused.
"Nothing happened." Karyn said dissapointed.
Jon hand on his head, looked around unsure. "I don't know. I feel different."
The two turned their attention to him, expectantly but eyes searching for anything notable.
"You do seem a bit smaller."
"hardy har, That's only the 12th time you've made that joke today."
Karyn rolled her eyes. "Not what I meant."
"You're actually shorter than you were a second ago." Zoe concluded. "And I'm a bit taller. But why would we just change height?"
Jon sighed in relief. "I guess the bet was just interpretted to mean we swap places in the competition?"
"That's lame." Karyn huffed. "That doesn't even make sense."
"Well, does anyone else have an explanation?" Jon smirked. "Looks like I came out on top. And still only one thumb war away from changing back." He squared off with Zoe, Want one final fair thumbwar?" He turned to Karyn when he emphasized the word 'fair'.
Zoe's face was grim, as she considered the offer. "You know what. Nah. Have fun with the rest of your day Jon, I still think I've got the better deal."
Jon shrugged. "Your loss." And turned to walk off, Karyn swapped a few words with Zoe, then started to follow.
"Mina!" The PE coach shouted. Jon turned, and faced her. "Where are you going? Get changed, the bells about to ring." For the second time, Zoe, Karyn, and Jon were stunned into inaction. Zoe and Jon both took a moment, searching their new unfamiliar memories. A scowl drew itself across Jon's face, even as a smile grew on Zoe's.
Zoe spoke up first. "Don't worry Coach Kim, I just had to talk to Mina about something, She'll be there in a second."
"Hurry it up." She shouted back at the trio.
As the three returned to huddle, Karyn stammered. "What's going on?"
Zoe was the first to break the silence. "Seems like we did swap places."
"Mina, here is a young junior on her way to PE, and I just finished up PE, with you."
Karyn stares blankly for a few moment, then starts to laugh. "No way! Oh my god this is hilarious. So you lost a year, and you have to go back to PE?"
"But you're still stuck with your bets. Just like I said. We didn't swap bets." Jon stammered, trying to find some good news. "Otherwise, I'd be stuffed into an undersized corset, walking around on stilts."
"Oooh. Snippy." Zoe snorted. "Don't be a sore loser Sis. Enjoy Gym."
Karyn looked back and forth between Jon and Zoe, thin squinted her eyes and pointed. "Remember. Change in the Corner."
Jon threw up his hands, rolled his eyes, and watched as his best friend and sister hurried on their way to lunch, leaving him doomed to a second, long awkward PE period.
