"How was PE, Sis?" Zoe asked sniddly, putting an emphasis on the word 'sis.'

"Just fine" Jon crossed his arms, and put on the best poker face he could imagine. The result was somewhat sassier than intended as his head cocked to the side.

"Oh I'm sure."

"Not going to lie, Zoe, this is turning out a lot easier than I thought. I'm not sure what I was afraid of."

Zoe huffed and rolled her eyes, but the lack of quip told Jon she actually was worried about her leverage in the game of bets. Finding her bearing, she pushed back. "Yeah I'm sure, filling some long time fantasy about the girls locker room, no doubt." But her voice wasn't behind it.

"Actually, I'm more interested in you." Jon turned to the side, and looked Zoe up and down. "I'm sure those heels were tricky enough, but gym in your new body?" Jon laughed. "I wish I could watch."

"Oh, don't you worry about that." She crossed her arms.

The two stared at one another for a pensive tick of the clock, both waiting for the other to break and start negotiating the next bet.

"Oh shit." Karyn hissed as she scurried up to the pair. "Another bet?" her smile was ear to ear. "it's always fun to see these things live, what's on the table?"

"We haven't decided yet." Zoe replied, assuring Jon her desire to avoid PE in her new body.

"I don't know if there's anything that could offer to convince me to let you off the hook. Seems like I'm doing a lot better than you." Jon smiled. "Get teased for your heels this morning? you still look sweaty from this morning too."

Zoe flustered, her plump cheeks turning a rich rosey color. "Yeah right."

Karyn interjected. "Don't let Jon get in your head. He just got pegged in the face, and couldn't even serve the volley ball."

"Karyn!" Jon shouted, and swiftly, but feebly slapped Karyn's arm. He held his hands to his side in shock at the betrayal. His deep grey eyes bore into Karyn's mischevious face.

Zoe laughed, suddenly flush with confidence. "Oh, doing a lot better than me? You so sure about that?"

Karyn snickered.

"Traitor." Jon murmered.

"My normal weight, if I win." Zoe stuck out her hand.

"Fine, but if I win, you have to play another game right away." Jon reached for her hand, but Zoe pulled back. Eyed him carefully, then bargained, "Only if get to bet on that game too."

Jon thought for a moment, then nodded.

"YES!" Karyn laughed. Both of them turned to her in confusion.

"This is just exciting." She explained earnestly.

The two locked hands, tapped their thumbs, and chanted the opening rite to the ceremonial battle, Then lunged for one another once again.

It might not seem so, but thumb wars were in fact full body games, tugging, and pulling each others hands, just as much as wiggling thumbs around, and in this one field of battle, Jon yet had an advantage. While he had opted to put his platform shoes back on, to regain a scant percentage of the height he lost, Zoe still loomed over Jon and Karyn both, atop her stilt-like heels. Despite her practice, and balance, and early bluff, she tottered precariously with each shift of weight. Jon tugged on their hands, pulling Zoe both forward and down. The distraction was enough for a pin.

"YES" Jon shouted. Zoe pursed her lips tightly to the side, giving an expression that was almost cartoonish with her plumped features. Jon's arms went wide and he pointed at her triumphantly, than chanted. "That's what you get for scamming me. You can't beat me in a 'fair' game." He laughed.

"Booooo." Karyn intrupted his cheer. "You had to pull her down. That's not fair."

"Oh come on." Jon insisted. "All's fair in love and thumbwars."

"Booooo." She cut him off again.

Jon dramatically turned away from Karyn, and gloated to Zoe. " 2-0. One more game, and I'm back to normal. Maybe afterwards, you can trade some chores to swap back. Let's get this over with."

"Not so fast." Zoe snapped. "Another bet, not just another game, and if I win, we swap places."

"No way." Jon laughed.

"To bad, I get to bet on it, and we have to play immediately." Zoe smirked and stuck out her hand.

Jon froze, staring, thinking, the sudden realization dawning on him, and Karyn chortled.

"She got you twice in one day." Karyn laughed.

"That's not how any of this... No way. I don't agree to that. Same bet, if you win you go back to your normal weight."

Karyn contemplated. "I'm pretty sure you agreed that she gets to bet on the next game, not you."

"I'm not swapping all of our bets. No way." Jon insisted fervently as a compulsion to take Zoe's outstretched hand begin to well up within him. 'Immediately Immediately Immediately' The word echoed in his mind.

"You may not have a choice."

"Come on. You've got to actually make it a reasonable bet."

Zoe shrugged, "This seems perfectly reasonable to me"

"FINE." Jon huffed. "Whatever, I'll just have to win."

He grabbed her hand, and jutted his thumb out immediately for the win, Zoe was quick enough to prevent the loss, but was still off balance. She stumbled in her chunky heels and Karyn started booing again.

The pair went back and forth for a while, but it was clear Zoe was on the ropes, another tug or pull and she might not recover.

"Booo. The crowd wants goth girl Jon." Karyn laughed, then darted her fingers out and started to tickle Jon's ribs.

Jon yelped and clamped his arms tight to his body in a desperate defense, but the brief distraction was his demise. His thumb was pinned before he even realized it.
