"Honey, could you come down here, please?" Susan McMillan yelled upstairs.
A moment later, her daughter came downstairs, asking "What is it, Mom?"
"What have you been doing up there all day?"
"Well ..." Karyn began. "I was listening to music, painting my nails, texting ..."
"Okay, okay," her mom said. She sighed. "There's someone at the door. She says she knows you, that you're friends. But I can't imagine ..."
Karyn's face scrunched in confusion, then she headed to the door, to be greeted by the sight of that Goth girl from school. What was her name? Athena?
"Oh, thank the goddess I found you. I went to your house, but I saw that Sarah was there instead. She was even acting like she was supposed to be part of that family. Even your mom was acting like Sarah was her daughter. I figured that if she was there, then maybe you'd be here. And I guess I was right."
"What do you want?" Karyn asked, snobbishly.
"Karyn, listen to me. This isn't your house. This isn't your family. Your name is Karyn Black. You have to remember. Whatever that guidance ..."
"I don't know what you're talking about. I've lived in this house all my life. And this definitely is my family. My name is Karyn McMillan, not Karyn Black."
Athena's face fell. Why oh why did Karyn have to go see Miss Fine? Now she was like a completely different person. But there must be something Athena could do to get Karyn back to normal. Right?
