Miss Fine smiled. It was Susan McMillan. She extended her hand and introduced herself.
"Oh hello. You must be Mrs. McMillan. My name's Miss Fine. I work at your daughter's school."
Susan looked at her, confused. "The school is making housecalls now? What exactly is this about?"
"I was just concerned about what I've learned here. That you've left your daughter alone without adult supervision and without checking in on her," Miss Fine said.
"Sarah is sixteen. She can take care of herself," Susan said.
"Look at me, Mrs. McMillan...Susan..." Miss Fine said.
Susan did as she was told, and everything was a bit of a blur after that.
