Satisfied that Martin was under his influence Mr Gardner smiled. "Now Mr Williams." He said. "If you'd like to follow me. I can explain everything."
"I can't tell you how generous it is to open up your home to children in need, whether it leads to adoption or not. The two children were worried about being split up. They are brother and sister, and sometimes one family can't take in two kids," he said to the mind-numbed Martin.
Martin simply nodded.
"We moved their things in and set them up...so it will feel like home for them immediately," the man continued. "That's at no cost...all of the workers donated their time. Isn't that generous of them?" Gardner, if that was his real name, came across like a used car salesman.
"Why don't you sit on the couch with Mrs. Williams and I'll bring them in? They are waiting outside."
He sat as commanded.
A few minutes later, the man returned with two figures.
