"I needed to know what she was doing. It seemed important then." Karyn's gaze dropped from the mirror. Was she shaking?
"What...what did you find out?" This was getting way too Twilight Zone.
Karyn laughed. "I found out that she didn't have to change me to change me," she said. "She just had to change everything around me. She took my best friend away, and Sarah took my things...It doesn't matter anymore...nothing does."
"What are you talking about?" Athena asked.
"Zoe keeps trying to recruit me as a cheerleader," Karyn said. "Jon is acting like a Stepford Wife. You know that shy kid, Alex? He's acting like a little girl. And just for a moment there...I wondered what it would be like if I was like the person Zoe thinks I am..."
Athena looked at her. "Are you going to be all right?"
"I don't know, Miss DeVries," Karyn said.
