"Sarah?" The voice on the other end replied. It sounded like her mom. "You sound different."
"This is Karyn Black...I'm one of Sarah's...friends. I think we accidentally picked up each other's phones." As if...there were just too many coincidences.
"Oh...well, we just wanted to tell Sarah we were coming home early. Tomorrow instead of Sunday," Sarah's mother said.
"I can give you my number."
"No, I'm sure you can pass on the message. We're in a bit of a hurry."
"Sarah has been acting a bit weird lately...I...maybe you could talk to her when she comes home."
The call ended. Karyn frowned. Her mom would insist on speaking to her to make sure she was all right. Sarah's mom was like...Sarah had been till recently. She knew that Sarah's parents were frequently out of town, or so the gossip said.
She couldn't imagine what it would be like if her parents were never around.
