Earlier at lunch Karyn was sitting in the cafeteria with Sarah. She was about to confront her about her clothes when Alex stepped towards them.
"Hi Karyn, Hi Sarah" he said greeting them.
"Hi Alex" Karyn and Sarah replied. Karyn did a double take.
"Are you wearing makeup?" She asked him.
Alex nodded. "Looks great doesn't it?"
"Um, yeah it does." Karyn replied looking over at Sarah who just nodded politely seeming uninterested.
"Thanks. Mommy likes it as well." Alex replied smiling. "She wants to speak to you by the way." Alex said then he noticed their confused looks.
"Oops. Sorry," he said giggling and put a hand to his mouth showing them his nails. "I mean Miss Fine." He handed Karyn the note and then he skipped away.
"That was weird." Karyn said as she looked at the note.
"Yeah," Sarah replied. "I didn't know Miss Fine had a son."
"She doesn't" Karyn said looking up at Sarah.
"But Alex just said..."
"Miss Fine's done something to him." Karyn told her. "I mean he's wearing makeup and has painted his nails."
"So?" Sarah asked.
Karyn took a step back. "So you don't find anything wrong with a boy wearing makeup?" She asked Sarah.
Sarah shrugged her shoulders. "Alex said that Miss Fine liked it so she must have said something but that means that it could only be good for him." Sarah rationalised. "Miss Fine would do anything to harm us."
Karyn was going to respond but then the bell rang indicating that lunch was over.
"Come on." Sarah said standing up. "We've got to get to class."
