Meanwhile, Karyn had arrived at school late, having missed first period, thanks to Sarah. She was angry and confused, and hated the outfit she was wearing.
When she arrived, the morning announcements, which were shown on TVs in each room, had just finished. No big loss from her point of view. It was usually the day's lunch menu and other random bits of school trivia.
As she watched the students come out of classrooms, some people's eyes seemed a bit glassy, but no everyone's. She pondered that for a moment, before the boys started ogling her in the outfit she was stuck wearing, and the girls seemed either to look at her with disdain or envy.
