When Karyn arrived at school, once again, Jon wasn't around in their usual place. There was definitely something going on with him. There was something going on in general.

She went to her locker to put some things away and get what she needed for her first class.

"Hi, Sarah," someone called. "What are you doing over here?"

She turned around. It was Melissa Smith, one of the cheerleaders. She looked surprised. "Oh, Karyn...sorry, from the back I thought you were Sarah. Have you seen her?"

"No," Karyn said. She wasn't friends with any of the cheerleaders. But it was usually Sarah who was singling her out. The others usually just didn't care about anyone 'below' them unless they got in the way or did something they could make fun of.

"Okay. Nice top. Much better than that disgusting green thing you usually wear. Makes you almost look decent...at least from the back."

Melissa headed off before Karyn could respond. Karyn felt angry for a few moments, but then paused. She really didn't care what Melissa thought of her appearance. She just hated the tone more than anything else.

She headed to class and nearly bumped into a modestly dressed girl with glasses, her nose in a book.

Karyn blinked. It took her a few moments to realize it was Tiffany Sanders. Except she was dressed in a simple blouse and skirt, her hair tied back. She looked like a stereotypical mousy librarian type. "Sorry," Tiffany said.

"Umm...are you all right?" Karyn asked.

"Just preparing for class," Tiffany said.

Karyn slid into her seat. Meanwhile....
