The school halls were full of students in various arrays of colors, school spirit was always a hard thing to get students passionate about unless they had something to be excited for, coming back to school after a break wasn’t everyone’s idea of great time, so the turnout was mixed for “School Spirit Day”. This made even Nadine and Jade, who were trying to fly under the radar, stand out in the crowd. Jade was somewhat saved though her old friend Kayla. Actually, Jade didn’t know if they were friends or not in this reality, but she hoped they still were… She wasn’t sure that the class system of the school would allow for it, and Kayla had never had many female friends or friends at all, and she was certain that Jade wasn’t a member of the science club like Jay had been.

Kayla came to school in yellow and purple striped tights, like you would see a court jester wear, and she made a show of it in the halls and in every class she had, having a laugh at the idea of school spirit. She kept making references “Not black in my mind, though yellow in my legs.” Which she thought was hilarious even though no one else got it and much of the attention was taken off Jade, and everyone else in the room because of it. While Jade was thankful for this, she never remembered Kayla being quite so outspoken before, it was as if a filter had been removed and suddenly the nerdy quiet Kayla had become the class clown, so as much as Jade tried to catch a moment with Kayla, to test the waters of what was their friendship, she never got the chance.

Nadine came to school in a yellow jacket with a light purple top under it, the best she had in her closet, but neither were the right shade. On top of both she wore her cross, her second best cross, as her best didn’t match the outfit, but the gold of this cross sparkled. She had never owned a cross of gold before, nor had she ever worn the cross as an accessory, but her mind worked differently now. Image mattered, it was important how people saw you, she needed people to know who she was, what she was, and more importantly what she wasn’t. So she went through the day being careful who she smiled at, she passed by old friends, while she smiled at people she never had before. While she seemed to walk the halls as if she owned them and always had and would, in the back of her mind this was a new experience, one that was growing on her.

Jenny and Karyn arrived together, both in Cheer outfits. Jenny had the classic purple and gold colors with her chestnut brown hair curled, and of course the name on her chest in cursive. Jenny. She looked great, she looked like she was supposed to look, as if every other outfit was wrong now. Something odd would happen when she would see herself in the mirror, she would smile, a perfect cheerleader smile, and of course in order for her to pull off the look she had to have her make up on point as well. She was blending in, and everyone in the school seemed to bow to her presence, every time she entered a room heads turned, and people took notice. It was all very new for Jenny, and she was surprised with how quickly she had gotten used to the attention. For after all, it was just a ruse anyway.

Karyn on the other hand was in the contrasting outfit, mostly white with purple outlines and gold stitching. Karyn didn’t pull off the look as well as Jenny was. For one it was very uncomfortable, for as good as Jenny made the outfit look, it was made for her, and Karyn wasn’t quite so small as Jenny was. She felt like She Hulk, her breath constantly kept in by the tightness of the top, her legs on display in the too short skirt. She spent the day trying not to burst out of the thing. She too got the looks but she was never able to enjoy them, or to feel any sort of comfort, damn thing was ichy too. All of this to avoid the wrath, the mischief, the eye of Ms. Holloway. She was starting to wonder if it was all worth it.

Trinity entered the school armored in her friends, Athena, dressed in her usual Victorian era lacy blue and black dress, Zoey, dressed in a dark purple T shirt and black skinny jeans, and her at the center in a black dress, corseted with belts around her torso and flanked by chains around her hips which fell down around the length of the dress. Her shaved head bearing black stubble, her make up done with a little spindle around the eyes. She looked intimidating, and gave an air of don’t fuck with me with her scowel. People noticed a pretty girl like Jenny or an outrageous girl like Kayla who begged for the attention, but everyone noticed Trinity. Her glare would part the crowded halls like a sea, everyone looked, but no one dared to interact. Trinity was making it clear, she wasn’t going to play this game, she wasn’t your princess, and if anyone wanted to challenge her they would have a fight on their hands.
