Jon grabbed the stone. He tried to wish for things to be back to normal. Nothing. To know what happened. Nothing. Then he tried to wish his shirt was a different color. That worked.
It seemed as if anything to do with this mystery was not an option for him to solve. He put the stone back and went to meet Karyn on the way to school.
He started to explain the situation to Karyn as they walked. "But...you like Sarah," Karyn said. "I like Sarah. You're saying she's really someone else?"
"I told you this yesterday," Jon said. "When I asked you about my real sister, you said you never heard of Zoe."
"Zoe Shepard?" Karyn said. "But she's nothing like you."
While he'd wished, not seriously, sometimes that Zoe was adopted, or wasn't his sister, he did love her. "I think I'd better see what new Zoe is like," he said.
