Once he was all done, he grabbed the purse from the dresser and the pocketbook and cell phone from the nightstand, then headed out the door.
He headed toward the kitchen, where Laura and Susan were finishing up bowls of cereal. Sarah looked over at him. "At least you look more like yourself," she said. "Are you all right to take the kids to school? I'm going to be late."
"Umm...yeah," he said.
Sarah gave him another quick peck before hurrying out before Jon could object.
Jon sighed and tried to think of what his mother would do. "Come on, you two..." he said, riffling through the purse for car keys.
Before long, they were all in a car he didn't recognize. At least he'd passed Driver's Ed a few months ago. The two grown women in the back of the car were fighting like a kid and teen sibling might. That was unnerving enough.
