"Now, go back in our room and put on something that doesn't make you look like a tomboy," Sarah said. "How about that new sundress you bought last month?"
Jon's eyes went wide. Up until now, he was under the impression that Sarah was supposed to be the "mother" of the family and he was probably either the "dad" or the "mom's boyfriend". But this confirmed that he was wrong. Jon was the "mother", not Sarah.
Jon was supposed to be a woman?! It was the same old Sarah though. She was usually the one wearing the pants in her relationships. She was just doing so more literally now. "Are you telling me what to wear?"
Sarah paused. "No, of course not," she said, after a moment. "But...you aren't acting like yourself, Jon. You have to realize that."
I'm not acting like myself? Have you looked in a mirror? Jon thought.
Laura looked between them. "Those clothes look more like something I'd wear, Jom. You only wear jeans when you're working around the house."
Did she just call me Jom? Jon wondered. Does everyone think this is normal but me?
