Jennifer Taylor could barely see Melissa through Jay Duncan's thick glasses. "I was just at band practice ..." She blinked. Melissa was less blurry. Jennifer's sight was getting worse. But her hearing was perfectly fine. So she had no trouble understanding Melissa's outburst.
"How'd we end up in this ... parallel universe?!" Melissa had never said that phrase before, yet it made immediate sense to her ... and Jennifer.
"I'm not sure interdimensional travel can account for this," said Jennifer.
"What about teleportation? No, it's impossible!" Melissa was certain of that, thanks to the scientific knowledge that was filling her mind, displacing her memory of her fellow cheerleader Linda, Jon's former mother.
Jennifer's voice deepened. "I wonder if this is also happening to my sister."
"You don't have a sister, Jennifer."
"But I do. My twin. Don't you remember? Her name's --"
