Stopping off in the kitchen Biff poured himself a glass of white wine and grabbed a soda for Pete before heading into the sitting room.
Inside he found Pete curled up on the couch with his legs tucked under him. His dressing gown had opened up a bit and his nightie was clearly visible underneath but Biff paid it no notice. Pete was idly flicking through the channels on the TV, not seeming to find anything of interest.
Biff handed him the soda and sat down on the couch beside him. It was a fairly big couch with enough room for at least 3 adults but without thinking about it Biff had sat down and curled up right beside Pete with his legs resting right beside Pete. It felt fairly natural to both of them in a mother daughter sort of way where 24 hours ago they never would have sat like this.
"Anything on?", Biff asked.
"Nothing much", Pete replied continuing to channel surf. One of the channels was showing a big football game but neither even considered it as an option, both having lost their interest in football.
Eventually they settled on one of the movie channels. There was a romantic comedy on that neither had seen before. It was a fairly typical affair but was light hearted enough and they both soon become engrossed by it. During one particularly sad scene Biff even found himself shedding a tear and sniffling slightly. Pete turned to look at him. Normally, he would have laughed at such a sight but he simply gave a little smile in reassurance and took Biff's hand and gave it a little squeeze.
Biff felt closer to Pete than he had ever felt to anyone in his life. In that moment he loved Pete as only a mother could and forgot about the movie for a minute as he stared at his daughter.
For his part, Pete was really enjoying his time alone with Biff. Everything seemed a bit hectic all the time when Jon and Karyn were around as they seemed to demand constant attention but for now it was just Pete and his mom and he felt lucky to get this time together.
He was a little bit embarrassed at one point when the romantic part of the romantic comedy came to the fore. The two main characters had finally gotten together and were making out. Pete was a bit embarrassed to be watching this with his Mom. He kept imagining what it would feel like but in his thoughts he was in the role of the girl. She was wearing a beautiful dress as it was set at a fancy event. Pete was envious of the dress and wondered what it would feel like to wear but he was even more envious of the fact that this character was making out with the hunk of a star. Pete felt himself getting aroused which was even more embarrassing. Luckily this was the end scene and Pete stood up with a yawn, closed his dressing gown again and said goodnight to Biff, who said he would be following Pete and going to bed shortly.
