Pete had gone back to his room to finish getting ready for bed. As Biff was bringing Jon and Karyn to their bedroom they met Pete coming out of his room. He was still wearing the nightie he had quickly put on earlier but he had added a dressing gown and pair of slippers.
"I'm just going to get these two settled in to bed and then I'll meet you down stairs sweetie," Biff said to Pete. "Maybe we can watch a bit of TV before bed.
"Why can't we watch TV too?" both Jon and Karyn asked together." "We're not really babies, you know," Karyn added. "This is just pretend. We're both big girls really." Jon didn't do much to help Karyn's argument when he let out a big yawn. The yawn was contagious and soon Karyn was yawning too. This got a good laugh out of Biff who said, "aw, are my big grown up girls all tuckered out? You both need a good night's sleep and if you behave ill let you watch some TV in the morning."
This got the enthusiastic response Biff was hoping for and they both promised to be good and get a good sleep without any more protest.
Once inside the bedroom Biff opened the sides of the two cribs and helped Karyn and then Jon into their cribs. He tucked them both in, turned on the night light and sat down to read them a story. When he had finished, he put the book down and gave them each a kiss on the forehead before leaving them to drift off to sleep.
Quietly stepping out of the room Biff went into his own room. He took his dress off and hung it on a chair. He admired himself in the mirror for a minute before reaching behind to remove his bra. Placing the bra on top of his dress he felt that same vulnerable feeling of having his chest exposed. He looked at it in the mirror. His chest was still the same male chest he had always had but through his eyes it looked different. It felt like something that would be desired and should be kept private. Taking a night dress out of his dresser Biff put it on, marvelling at how it clung to his body. It was the softest piece of clothing he had ever worn and he was loving it. He put on a dressing gown and headed downstairs to spend some quality time with his teenage daughter, taking one last look at his twin babies on the way, happy to see that both were fast asleep.
