It was a boy his age, who looked very similar to him, and oddly familiar. He shot a look to Stephie, who shrugged. She had no idea who he was.
"Hey, Jon." he noticed Stephie in the background. "Hey, Stephie..."
"Umm...hi," she said.
"You were just at the library with my sister, right?"
"Who is your sister?" She said. Jon shot her a look, mouthing instructions that she should pretend she knew what was going on.
Tim looked at her oddly. "Wanda..."
"She's playing this weird game today," Jon said.
Stephie realized this must be Wanda's big brother, and relaxed.
"Yeah, well," Tim said, shrugging. He turned back to Jon. "I have to talk to you about Zelda," he said. "I mean, she dragged me to that concert. Next time, can you please come along? It was really awkward being the only boy in the group." He sighed. He'd rather be somewhere quieter with Zelda than a concert. Tim was a fairly passive boy, and Zelda tended to be the more aggressive in the relationship.
Mia popped her head out of the kitchen. "Oh, hello, Timothy. I thought I heard your voice."
"Hey, Mrs. M. I just came to talk to Jon."
"Would you like to stay for dinner?"
"My mother left me something at home, because she has to work late. My sisters are at friends' houses."
"Nonsense, stay for dinner. We can set another place."
Zoe moved to do so, watching Tim. Since her friend Zelda had started dating her brother's friend, she'd been a bit jealous. She didn't have anyone at the moment. Tim and Zelda certainly were an odd couple. Zelda definitely wore the pants in the relationship, but it seemed to work for them.
She glanced over at Jon and Stephie. They were both acting very suspiciously. She wondered what was going on, and hoped things were back to normal soon.
