Timothy paused. "No...nothing," he lied. Something was bothering him though. His father was in town.
That wasn't unusual. His dad was in the military, which meant he was gone for months at a time. But, not being particularly sports-inclined, or into the 'manly' things the Colonel was into, he couldn't help but feeling his father was disappointed in him, and maybe even favored his brother and sister.
He spotted his sister suddenly, walking past. He and Zuleika were sitting on the wall at the edge of the schoolyard. Ms. Malina wasn't available(some sort of family emergency), and they couldn't get a sub in time, so they'd gotten a free period.
"Hey, sis," he called. The person he called to turned, a look of complete confusion on their face.
