(Author's Note: I wanted to take things in a slightly different direction. I want Alana to not be the buttoned up person she was initially, but I wanted to keep the fact that Sorrow messed with her still true.)
"Mom, snap out of it. You don't usually act this way," Alana said.
Sierra broke away from Kyle for a moment, then gave her daughter a frown. "Do you mind? We're busy here." She turned back towards Kyle and began to make out with him again.
Alana took a step backwards, her eyes wide. Then she spun around and marched back over towards Sorrow. "Whatever you did to my mom ... change her back!"
Sorrow stood up from the floor. "Are you sure that's a good idea?" she asked the teenage girl, in that soothing, yet haunting voice she used when she gave people hypnotic suggestions.
"Well ... uh ..." Alana wavered, her eyes defocusing, then refocusing. "Stop that! What the hell is wrong with you?"
"What is wrong with you?" Sorrow asked her. "For a few hours, you were doing what you wanted...free."
Alana thought about that. "But...I didn't care about the consequences. I'm not an idiot. School is a drag, and my parents are always fighting and are probably the most uptight people in the universe. My mom works at my school and makes it impossible for me...but I only have a year more before I go to college...out of town and I can do whatever the hell I want," she said. "At least, until I met you. What kind of a sick twisted bitch are you?"
"Now, that's unfair..." Sorrow said. "You have potential. don't throw it away. do you want your future to be like that?" she asked, gesturing to her parents. "Because that's your choice. I just was helping you see it."
Alana looked at her, not sure what to believe. She knew now she couldn't trust Sorrow, but...she believed she was sincere...or a very good liar.
