A voice in the back of Denise's head told her that she couldn't afford a car like that. On her salary, she could barely afford a Kia. That's why she usually took the bus to get to and from work. In fact, she just got off of a bus a moment ago coming from the store ... right?
She looked around, realizing that she wasn't just standing in the middle of nowhere. On the corner of the next intersection a few houses down was the house she shared with Nadie, her lesbian partner. She picked up a bag full of groceries (for some reason, she thought that she had more than one bag, but she must have been mistaken - this was all she bought), then headed down the street to her house.
Once at the house, she got her key out and opened the door. "I'm home, love," she announced to her partner.
Nadie entered the room and smiled, walking over to her. Then she wrapped her arms around Denise and kissed her. A voice whispered at the back of Denise's mind that there was something wrong, that she was interested in men, not women. But that voice quickly faded away. Of course she was interested in women. It was ridiculous to think otherwise.
