Lieutenant Thompson, or whoever he was supposed to be, was hiding in one of the empty stairways. He didn't want to see anyone or talk to anyone, lest he witness or induce another gender change.
He'd never been one to run, but his emotions were completely out of control. As he hid there, he was keenly aware of how his body was rebelling against him, shifting into a totally alien shape.
"Miss Stevens?" A voice said from above. "What are you doing down there? Aren't you supposed to be in class?"
"Stay away from me," he said. "Don't come near me, please."
