After leaving the base and heading towards Lake Point, Kendall took out his cellphone and called a number. Thompson looked over. "Who are you calling?"
"Just keep your eyes on the road, Lieutenant," he said, then began talking on his phone. "This is Kendall. Put Agent Willis on the phone." He paused for a few seconds. "Yes, we're heading in now." He paused again. "No, I don't think we need Morris for this one. But if you don't hear from me in ..." He checked his watch. "Two hours ... you know what to do."
Kendall looked over at Thompson, then put his phone away. The lieutenant appeared to be a little worried, as he looked at him. It was understandable. While Kendall and his "agency" were used to dealing with this sort of thing, the typical soldier wasn't. It wasn't everyday when there was a class five phenomenon. Maybe every few months, but not every day.
"We'll be in Lake Point in about seven minutes, sir," Thompson said, continuing to drive.
