Nadie entered the room and smiled, walking over to her. Then she wrapped her arms around Denise and kissed her. A voice whispered at the back of Denise's mind that there was something wrong, that she was interested in men, not women. But that voice was quickly eliminated. Of course she was interested in women. It was ridiculous to think otherwise.
"I think I chased Quill off again."
Denise nodded. "Why your sister adopted that silly name, I'll never understand."
"For professional reasons I thought. More people know her as Quill then Laura, I suppose." Nadie sighed. "Most people assume I'm estranged from her because I came out of the closet. To be honest, I don't think she cares a bit about that."
"Well, she's in town...she hasn't left. There is still time," Denise said.
"You're probably right, but right now, I need to center myself," Nadie said. "With you," she said. "We should put away the groceries first," she said, after a moment.
"That's my Nadie...You're always so practical."
"Someone has to be," Nadie said. "You do tend to forget things, love."
"Only when I'm distracted by you," Denise replied, picking up the groceries.
Right after they were neatly put away, they headed off for some alone time.
