Finally, Susan spotted a beleaguered looking man in a business suit and a bow tie, walking out of a coffee shop with a laptop in hand. Something about how the man just seemed to beg some mischief.
Susan grinned wickedly, making her way towards the unsuspecting man. She had an uncanny, almost magical way of compelling people to do things. To be honest, she couldn't really make people do anything. But she could make them do things they didn't think they wanted to do. She had a knack for picking the right buttons to push.
The man, on the other hand, spotted her, and thought, Oh, great, another one.
This one was certainly creepier than the annoyingly talkative one he'd encountered not long ago, with the hood hiding her features. She sauntered over to him.
"If you are looking for your friend, she left nearly twenty minutes ago," he said.
"Friend?" She questioned.
He described her.
"Oh, you met Adelinde. Quite trying, isn't she? I bet she insulted your bowtie."
He nodded, unsure of why he was even talking to this one. The other one, he hadn't had a choice. There was just something about her.
"You seem like you need to relax," she said. "I'm a good judge of that."
"I'm sure you have a degree in psychology," he said, sarcastically.
"Actually, I'm a musician," she said. "I'm on my way to sign a contract for a more permanent gig here in town."
"Is that why you dress that way?"
She laughed. "Well, a little. I like how I dress. I suppose I play it up a bit more for the band." She lifted up one of the amulets around her neck, fingering it. "It doesn't seem like it is your sort of music...But I bet when you were younger, you used to rock quite a bit."
"Well, a little..." he admitted.
"And I bet you miss being that adventurous person. This is probably not the person your younger self thought you'd become."
"No, but..."
She suddenly spoke in a low, compelling voice. "Tonight, you will find yourself doing things you wouldn't normally do, but have always wished to."
The man's eyes darted back and forth, in a way that indicated to her that he'd absorbed the suggestion.
"My name is Sorrow Yi," she said. "I'll be performing at the Spiked Pit. It's a club not far from here. Nice meeting you." She continued on her way. She wondered what he'd do while in that state, or how long before he sought her out.
He suddenly blinked, and walked away. Susan, aka Sorrow Yi, continued on her way. She'd done her good deeds for the day. No one should be that uptight. She turned, and saw a discarded bowtie in the middle of the street.
