Beth was giggling with Mark as Melissa approached. "Hi, Melissa...this is my new friend...she has like...the greatest fashion sense."

Mark grinned, his final change occurring. "I'm Marcy," she said. "Beth is just saying that. She looks ten times better in what she bought than I do. Her boyfriend is gonna go wild."

Beth looked around. "Y'know...he's been in the bathroom a long time...you don't think he got sick, do you?" She said, in a small childish voice.

"Are you still with Shawn?" Melissa asked, feigning nonchalance.

"Yeah, he's a cutie, isn't he? You two used to date, right?"

Yes, like immediately before you, you ditz. She thought. "Yeah. But he gets bored easily. A lot like you, Beth. I can't keep track of how many boyfriends you've had."

Beth looked at her, and Melissa could hear the wheels turning in what she assumed was Beth's tiny brain. "You...you're mad at me..." She clutched Marcy's arm as if for support. "What did I do?"

"You keep stealing boys from other people. Honestly, Beth, you're like the school's biggest slut."

Beth looked at her. "So?" What was wrong with having a little fun? "I'm not stealing anyone. They come to me..."

When Shawn finally returned, he spotted his ex-girlfriend and his current girlfriend fighting. He smiled at that. He was a stud, after all. He'd dumped Melissa because she was almost as bad as Beth, in a different way. So far, he hadn't found the perfect combination of girl for him. Until then, like Beth, he was having a little fun.
