“Hey, Vanessa?” Maya Crosby was leaning against Vanessa’s locker when she arrived at school, looking nervous.
“What’s up? I never see you here this early.” She tilted her head, wondering what her friend was up to.
“...I don’t think I’m quite cut out for this,” she explained, gesturing to her breasts.
“What do you mean?”
“Never thought I’d be hit on, and gosh, those cramps!” She gestured toward her torso emphatically. “Can’t do this, man…”
Vanessa sighed. “You know I don’t like to be called that.”
“Old habits,” Maya sighed.
“So what can I do for you?”
“Help me out of this, I guess,” she replied.
“All of it?”
“Well… The underwear’s kinda nice, and I can probably still wear most of this for the rest of the day, but… The boobs and hair, yeah.”
“Let’s go in the bathroom. We can’t really do that out here.” The two walked into the girls’ bathroom and set up shop in one of the few stalls, crowding in.
“Let’s start with this wig.”
“Do you wanna keep it or not?”
“Nah… It’s kinda high maintenance.”
“I can take it off your hands if you want. Jonchelle might think it’s cute.” She giggled, thinking about Friday night’s date again.
“I won’t have a use for it.” Maya shrugged as Vanessa worked the wig off, revealing Matt’s short hair.
“You’re gonna have to take off that hoodie of yours for me to do the other part,” Vanessa indicated to Maya. “Be careful not to hit me with your elbows.” Maya shed the jacket and the tank top she wore under it, revealing a filled bra.
“C-cups, huh? I thought you looked kinda nice.”
“Well, more than a couple of boys did too. That felt weird, ya know? Guess I’ve been on the other side of that a few times.”
“Comes with the territory,” Vanessa quipped as she unhooked the bra. It felt like a weight off of Matt’s shoulders, a weight which Vanessa packed and took with her. Matt put on the clothes again, exited the stall and checked himself in the mirror, noticing with dismay that he was wearing a Girl Power sweatshirt.
“If you ever want this back, let me know.”
“Of course.”
As the two walked out, Karyn walked in, avoiding eye contact with a visibly disappointed Vanessa but noticing Matt Crosby.
“You called it quits?” Karyn looked at Matt, who stopped as Vanessa walked on.
“Yeah… It’s good to be a boy again. This just wasn’t for me. Who keeps resolutions anyway?”
“Well, you can sit with me at lunch if you want. There’s me and a couple others who didn’t take part.”
“Sounds good…” Matt looked down at the sweatshirt again. “And I’ll give this to you, since I probably don’t have any use for it now.”
