Vanessa set down her purse on her bed and let out a long, happy sigh. This is really happening! I can’t believe it!
She had just had the most wonderful time with her best friend-turned-girlfriend and everything went perfectly. Vanessa sat down and started taking off the few pieces of jewelry as she reflected on the evening.
Picking Jonchelle up at seven meant that she had to go through the standard routine of meeting her parents. Of course, they had met before at the mall, so this was more of a formality. Vanessa had brought a bunch of cheap flowers for her, and she had been so nervous when she rang the doorbell.
She was greeted by Liam who informed her that Jonchelle was still getting ready, so Liam led Vanessa into the living room, where she also saw Rose. Rose had decided to carry on with her high maintenance fashion sense and was dressed in another expensive looking outfit. Vanessa briefly wondered where they had the money to buy all of this, but then she remembered that it wasn’t her place and decided to ask Jonchelle’s parents how they were adjusting to their new lifestyles.
After a few minutes of small talk, Zach appeared at the door, grinning. He made a very formal gesture as he announced his sister.
Vanessa’s jaw dropped as Jonchelle made her way down the stairs, daintily holding on to the banister and looking elegantly as possible. She thought that she had seen most of Jonchelle’s outfits, but this was something else. She later learned that Zach had helped her mix and match.
The date itself was fairly standard—nothing too special, as Vanessa didn’t have a lot of money. It was a classic first date, a trip to the movies. Vanessa played the typical boyfriend role, choosing which film they were going to see and buying the popcorn, while Jonchelle played the girlfriend role. She held Vanessa’s hand as they walked through the theatre and snuggled up to her once they were seated. She even kissed Vanessa lightly on the cheek as the lights dimmed and the movie started.
Vanessa sighed happily as she put her arm around Jonchelle’s shoulders. She couldn’t believe how much better her life had gotten since she had met this incredible girl.
Back in her room, Vanessa smiled as she looked back on the date. Her phone made a sparkly sound, and the smile grew wider when she saw that the text was from Chelle.
Thank u 4 tonight. It was amazing! Luv u!
Vanessa put the phone back down. She couldn’t be happier.
