Even though it was only three in the afternoon, and Jonchelle had plenty of time to get ready, she was just too excited to sit around and wait. The least that she could do was to pick out an outfit for tonight’s date.
Jonchelle jumped off the bed and practically danced over to her closet. Even as a boy, Jon had never had a date before so this was a completely new experience for him. Of course, he’d had a crush on Karyn, but he never got the nerve to ask her out, and after their fight, Jon might have squandered that chance.
Shaking her head, Jonchelle decided to forget about the past and focus on more important things, like her date with Vanessa. Vanessa had mentioned going to the movies, a classic first date, not that Jonchelle minded so she didn’t need to dress up too much but Jonchelle wanted to surprise Vanessa with something that she hadn’t seen before which would be hard since she was there when Jonchelle brought most of her stuff.
As she stood there pondering her options, Jonchelle heard the front door open and Zach announced that he was home. Already? Jonchelle thought. Glancing at the clock, her eyes widened. She had been standing there for nearly half an hour! And she still had no idea on what to wear. Suddenly, however, Jonchelle had an epiphany. Dashing out of her bedroom, she ran down the stairs and nearly fell into Zach who caught her.
“Careful, sis. What’s up?” he asked as he saw Jonchelle panicking a little.
“ZachIneedyourhelp,” Jonatha began breathlessly. “I know that you're not into girly stuff and that as a girl you weren’t that into fashion, but I need help picking out an outfit. Can you help me? Please?”
Jonchelle was practically tugging on Zach’s arm, hoping that he would help. Zach looked at his sister with a slightly amused look and then sighed.
“Fine, I’ll help you, but only this once. No more girly stuff for me, okay?”
Jonchelle breathed a sigh of relief and nodded. Before Zach could get his bearings, Jonchelle pulled him up the stairs and into her room.
