He had absolutely no idea who this woman was, but she apparently knew him.
"Are you here to see Sam?" she began.
Was he? Before he could answer, the woman called for Sam.
Jon recognized Sam, who was fairly nondescript, from school. He only vaguely knew him. He was new in town, and that was pretty much all Jon knew. But Sam greeted him as if they were friends.
"Something wrong?" He asked.
Jon wavered, uncertain what to tell him. He obviously thought he knew Jon better than Jon knew him. "It's about a stone," he tested.
"Stone?" Sam said.
Good, at least he doesn't know about that, Jon thought. "I...umm...tripped on a stone...in the park."
"You don't look hurt, at least," he said. "How about breakfast?"
Jon's stomach rumbled. "Sure," he said. He had this feeling he was supposed to be somewhere else, but he pushed it away. He was hungry.
