Lydia smiled, then said "So ... it's been almost a year now, right?"
Jon nodded "yes". He almost frowned, having trouble remembering what was so important that happened a year ago. He didn't want Lydia to know something was bothering him.
"What are you going to do when you see him?" she asked.
"I hope I don't see him." That answer was both true and fabricated at the same time, actually, since Jon was having trouble remembering just who "him" was.
"I don't blame you. After what happened, I wouldn't want to see him either. But he's going to be in town today, whether you like it or not. You can't avoid him."
"I can try," Jon said.
"Good luck with that," Lydia said.
