"You can sell these?" asked Jon

"Yea, you don't have to use the one that is in your possession. There is a website you can use to sell it, and they have that mobile app now. The website is monitored by the UN, so they know how many coins are out there. If someone finds out you sold it another way, there's a fine, " explained Karyn.

"How much would this coin go for?" Jon held up his Mars/Venus

"The Mars/Venus ones are a bit more rare, and are one of the few that can give a thee a penis. Couples that want to have children pay top dollar for it. We could check the website, but probably around $75,000."

Jon's mind was blown. That was a lot of money. He could get just about any car he wanted. It would basically pay for college. Or he could get a swimming pool and fill it with jello, and then do that again.

"You can also donate the coin. Using the same website/app you can select people that desire a certain coin, or randomly give it to an applicant if you don't want the responsibility of having to chose."

Jon and Karyn went to History before having a lunch break. They went to the library to look up the coin's value, which Karyn got just about perfectly. The only one worth more was the Jupiter/Juno. Apparently, once the sale happened, the coin somehow knew about the new owner and would teleport to the new owner once the funds were transferred. He went to the donation section, and found the process was similar but there was no actual currency, but you got a credit that could help you buy another coin depending on some algorithm that determined the how "noble" your donation was? That seemed ethically questionable. How do you determine if helping a couple have kids (Ceres) is more noble than helping someone trying to get the skills to help save your small town, family business to keep your family fed(Mercury)?

Jon sat back and thought for a moment. If he used it, he had a 50/50 chance of getting the Mars, which did not guarantee he would get a penis. In fact, if he flipped a Venus, he could go the opposite direction. Maybe he could donate it to Karyn if she applied, but would he get any credit for another coin? There were forums that guessed about the algorithm, but all of them said that their estimates weren't perfect. Also, how does the website know that the applicants aren't lying?

Lunch was over, so Jon and Karyn went to their classes. The didn't share English class, but then they went to their last class, Latin, together. Jon noticed that when Karyn would walk by people, folk would say congratulations to Karyn about the breasts. She'd give a little smile and nod. Biff, true to form, commented on her birthing hips and snickered as he walked by. In Latin class, the teacher droned on about verbs and conjugations. With 5 minutes left in the class, the teach took something out of the desk.

"Students, we are now halfway through the year. As it is your senior year, we have your coins. They are all Mars/Venus coins, as is traditional to give all thees so they have a chance to get a gender by the age of 18. You cannot sell these, but you can donate them if you want. Obviously, some of you already used these, but we want to make sure everyone has at least one of these. The teacher handed out one coin to each student.

The duo finished the school day and walked to Jon's home, staring at their coins.
