Karyn and Jon went to their first period, and started a boring Math class. As Mrs Bernard was droning on about derivatives, Jon realized that in this world, Mrs Bernard wasn't born a woman. She was born like he was now, which apparently was a "thee." There was a 3rd "gender" for the in between people. Some of adults still looked like thees. So you didn't have to flip a coin. Looking around the room, he could see some of his classmates had gone for it, like Karyn, and others hadn't. Biff apparently still was a guy in this world, must have gotten a Mars at some point. He was still muscular, so was that a Vulcan? It could be any of them, as the gods were fickle. So Jon could become a man or a woman in the coin-based world.
Jon went to music class, and saw Mr Civilo. He must have gotten a few Apollos in a row, since he knew everything about music. He did look like a Mr, rather than a Thee. Jon met up with Karyn again a bit later in the hall on the way to their 3rd class
"Jon, I'm so bummed about getting that Ceres. Now unless a coin undoes this, " said Karyn pointing to her breasts and hair, "I'm probably going to have to have babies. My coin flip was still finishing up when I got to school, and now I have a vagina. This sucks, I don't want to be the pregnant one!" Jon was taken aback a bit. Karyn, in his world, would never talk about her reproductive organs. But this wasn't his world, or his Karyn. He had overheard some of the other kids in his class talk about their sexual characteristics or their new knowledge like they were sports stats. Tiffany was talking about how information about all kinds of swimming leapt into her brain when she got a Neptune with her coin, while her flipping buddy got some kind of minor healing power from the Minvera. These coins were powerful.
"So, Jon, can you help me? Do you want to flip your coin with me?" pleaded Karyn
"Not yet."
"You have been saving yours since January. Are you going to sell it or something?" asked Karyn. Jon thought for a moment. The longer into the year he held it, the more it would be worth right? They only appear once a year for a couple weeks...
