When the doctor finally left for a minute, and Susan looked almost jealous as she (in Alan's body) kept gazing at the baby, Alan said, "I brought the medallion."

"And?"

"You have a minute or so to decide because we need to finish before the doctor returns. Would you like to have the baby too?"

"What? How?"

"Look, Alan, we can both have the experience of having a baby. I said that you owe me but that's not why I'm asking you. I'm giving you a chance for us to share the experience, and you won't even need to go through months of pregnancy for it. Just the very end."

"Oh, for all the... but you're right, Susan."

Alan grinned. "And you'll be able to stop calling me Susan in public, finally. The clothes I had before I put on this hospital gown, they're in a bag over there. You'd better do this fast. We have to get both transformations done before the doctor comes back." Alan reached for the medallion but couldn't let go of the baby he had given birth to and said "The medallion's in your purse, it's with the clothes."

Susan reached in and picked out the medallion, put it on, and touched it to the clothes--which Alan had worn just before putting on the hospital gown, while he was a pregnant Susan whose water had broke, about to give birth in two hours. She changed into Alan's hospital gown while Alan tried to change into the male clothes worn by Susan. "Oooh, it hurts," he said.

Susan, whose voice was becoming her own female one again as she turned back into a very pregnant Susan, said "Of course it hurts, you just gave birth."

They waited for Susan to fully transform. "This is incredible," she said. "The medallion is changing me into a pregnant woman. There was no baby and it's just... appearing inside me. Let me get onto this bed before the doctor...."

The door opened and the doctor entered. She said, "Susan, how are you feelin-- what?"

"Oh," said Susan. "I'm still pregnant, Dr. Nicholas. I guess you'll have to help me give birth."

"That's impossible! Then she looked around and saw Alan. "Hey! You're... her?"

Alan groaned. They needed to both change back before the doctor returned, of course. Just one person changing wasn't enough. He quickly grabbed the medallion and said "Which clothes do I need? I want to be sure to get something from before you started transforming, while you were completely me."

Susan said, "Try the coat, I took that off before changing and I wouldn't have let you put it on too soon."

Dr. Nicholas exclaimed, "What's going on here?"

Alan said, "You have another baby to deliver. Do it and it won't matter."

"But you can't... are you Susan? Is she? All right. I have a job to do."

Two hours later Alan was Alan, Susan was Susan, and Dr. Nicholas said, "I can't possibly write down any of this in your chart. I still don't know what you did, but you seem to know what's going on. Congratulations, you have twin girls. Even that's strange... the two babies are literally identical except one was born earlier. Same footprint even. Do you have a name for the second baby?

"I don't know!" exclaimed Susan. "It was a sudden decision!"

"What did you suddenly decide to do?"

"Never mind. I'll pick... Uh, Blanca. It's one letter off. Bianca and Blanca. Come to think of it, it's only part of one letter off."

The two compared the babies each one had given birth to. They joked about one being cuter or how much trouble they had but there really wasn't anything different to compare. They both were about to say something and then laughed. The two babies looked at each other--it was like looking in a mirror, except they weren't reversed. Then they began to make baby noises at each other.
