Zoe entered the school. In this reality, she was the eldest, as there was no Jon. She hurried through the school. She was really late.
Her mother had some sort of emergency, and couldn't give her a lift to school at the last minute, and she'd had to walk. Then she'd run into some stranger who knew her name. She doubted her first period teacher would accept that excuse though.
She nearly ran into another girl, a fiery redhead. "You too? That's the second time today someone has almost run into me," Melissa Smith said."At least you didn't knock me down."
"Sorry," Zoe said. "But I was afraid I'd be late," she insisted, taking a moment to catch her breath. "My mom bailed on giving me a ride at the last minute. Who was the first?"
"Carlo Antonelli. He didn't say I'm sorry either. Jerk..."
Zoe looked at her friend, sighing. Melissa could be rather hotheaded at times. She wished her friend was more like her, and would take things in stride. But she always seemed agitated about something.
