In the car, Linda was talking with her mom Jordan (giggling a lot as usual, which ticked off her sister Zoe) when suddenly her cell phone rang. She answered it, recognizing the voice immediately. It belonged to her friend Tracy Peterson, who lived just two houses down from her.
"Hey, Tracy, what's up?" Linda asked.
"I'm so upset that you can't come to this party," Tracy said. "I mean, like...you're my best friend..."
Linda really did want to go to the party, but...she couldn't. I'm sorry, but...you know that bitch didn't even invite me? Just because she thinks I stole her boyfriend."
"Linda, language," her mother said.
"Sorry, mom." Linda said.
Zoe rolled her eyes, wishing things were different for her. She was stuck in the middle between a perky cheerleader and even her kid sister had a boyfriend...even if it was still in the more innocent pre-high school phase. And her Mom...she loved her, but...she was the most embarrassing of all.
