Jon didn't like any of the shirts and picked one out at random, it was the one with 'Princess' on the front written in pink sparkly letters and short, pink, puff sleeves. He thought it was odd that a shirt that was obviously aimed at little girls was in his size, he went to throw it back in the dryer and pick another, but the door had closed shut and now would not open, Jon tried with all his strength to force it, foot braced against the machine, but it just wouldn't budge.
He could have gone shirtless, but he was shy about his body, wishing he had a bit more muscle on him, thinking of himself as a little too skinny and scrawny looking. He decided he'd wear the girly shirt and treat it as a joke if anyone saw him in it. It fit ok, if a little tight.
He spotted a pair of black converse sneakers in the corner of the room and put them on too, before going to head out of the door. He listened intently, wanting to get out while there was nobody about. He could still hear a lot of commotion in the house, but no-one outside the door to the laundry room so he made a dash to the hallway, stopping and ducking out of the way as he saw one of his aunts and his 11 year old cousin Hannah arguing with her.
"But I don't want to go to a party for baby girls", he overheard.
"It's her sixth birthday, Jenny isn't a baby and you know how much she looks up to you" his aunt replied.
Jon scratched his head, which seemed to be itching all over and wondered who this Jenny was and why her party was being thrown in his house. He waited for them to move away, briefly thinking that must be one hell of a growth spurt as he didn't remember his 11 year old cousin being almost as tall as him last time he saw her. Other things seemed a little off, but he couldn't quite place what as he ran up the stairs in his pink converse sneakers and flung open his door and slammed it behind him as he got into his room, or at least he thought it was his room, but.........
