Zoe frowned. She was certain she had. "Fine, do you want to wake them up? Or we can wake them up together."
"You can wake them up," Jon said.
Zoe nodded. She didn't even think about the fact that she and Jon were working together and not fighting with each other, or that the fact he wanted her to do it meant he wasn't helping.
She tiptoed through the hall, wearing only a bathrobe, entered, and gently started shaking her mother awake. The woman growned and grumbled something unintelligible and rolled over. "It's time to wake up," Zoe said, a bit firmly.
"Nnnn," was the response. Zoe pulled the covers off the bed and finally she stirred. "Mom?" She blinked a few times. "Oh, Zoe...I was having an odd dream." Jane looked at her. "What am I doing in here?"
"Not sure," Zoe said. "Jon and I woke up in your room and you woke up in ours rooms. We're not sure why."
She got up, a bit shaky. "I feel strange. I don't think I should go to work today."
"Either we are all staying home, or we're all going out," Zoe said.
Jane looked at her. "Why is what I do any of your business?" She said. Zoe stared at her. Jane seemed to realize what she'd said, and frowned. "I'm not myself this morning, I guess."
She walked across the hall to Jon's room and found Rick there, curled up. She shook him awake. He scowled at her. "What do you want?" Then he woke up a bit more. "Oh, I'm sorry," he said. "I...wasn't thinking. It sounded insincere somehow to both of them.
He reached for her, but suddenly pulled back. The idea of touching her made him more and more uncomfortable. "What's going on?" He asked.
Meanwhile, Jon tried to think what he could do to fix this. Where could the stone be?
