It's a common error to think that models are morons; all they do all day is pose for a camera.
That's completely wrong. Modeling is a cutthroat world and only the strong, the cunning, and the ruthless survive. The great models aren't geniuses, but they're no one's fools.
Susan MacMillan was no one's fool. She was determined to have her baby girl back, head high, back straight, conquering the world -- and remembering who she was. Susan was starting to get nervous about the slow pace of Sarah's recovery, and so she decided to take matters even more into her own hands.
She sought out Richard's right hand, Denise, with whom she'd long suspected Richard of having an affair, and candidly laid out the problem. Denise was extremely well-connected with doctors and scientists who tended to stay below the radar -- a big part of MacMillan Inc.'s yearly revenue came from sponsoring their work -- and whatever else might be said of Denise, she hugged Susan and got down to work.
And produced results, one of whom was in Sarah's room with her right now.
