Susan MacMillan was worried. Since she'd been home, she'd made some calls, and not one of her daughter's friends wanted to see her. It might have been their parents.
After all, Sarah had been in a scandal, and few parents want their kids to risk being involved with such a thing. But Sarah could make up her courses and still graduate on time. Richard had seen to that.
And as for the accident, which had caused her little girl such grief...It was the Gibson boy's fault...darting across the street at that time of night. The police had said he was coming home from a friend's house.
Sarah wasn't plastered. Her blood alcohol level was only slightly elevated. But she'd been devastated. That night she'd curled up and been mostly unresponsive. But when she'd tried to move on and return to school, she'd been isolated. The scandal followed her. She'd gone from the most popular girl in school to a social leper overnight.
She couldn't take it, which was how she'd ended up in the hospital. And now, it was up to Susan to fix her...no one seemed to want to help her. It was as if everyone was against her.
