Xander opened the door and saw a woman standing outside that he had never seen before, but judging by her clothing and make-up, he figured that she must have been a hooker or something. Not someone you usually saw in this neighborhood.
"Who are you?" the woman asked, startled.
"Xander. Who are you?"
"I'm Jane Gibson. And this is my house."
"I think you're mistaken. This is my house. I've never seen you before."
Jane was shocked. Who was this boy? What was he doing in her house? And why did he think that her house was his?
Upstairs, Mikey heard his mom's voice, his real mom, and jumped off the bed and ran out of the bedroom.
"Mikey, come back here!" Lydia yelled.
He ran down the stairs and smiled when he saw his mom. "Mom!"
Jane looked over and smiled too. "Mikey! Oh thank goodness."
But before Mikey could run into his real mother's arms, Xander grabbed him and kept him away, thinking that he was protecting him.
"Who are you?" Lydia asked Jane, walking down the stairs. "And how do you know my son?"
"Your son?" Jane asked, stunned.
